This is Section 5 of the FBI's flying disk file 62-HQ-83894, made up of 1949 and 1950 correspondence. Most of it covers a letter sent to Walter Winchell by Peter Camerlon Jones, who said he saw a silver top-shaped object near Los Angeles in 1947. The Los Angeles office could not find him, and the Bureau suggested the letter was a prank. The section also holds a Navy intelligence report on 6 or 7 discs seen over southern Oregon on 27 May 1949, plus several letters from citizens.

New Flying Saucer Since we are on the brink of a third world conflict, the world is more air conscious than ever. Aviation in some phases is yet in its pioneering dawn. Much talk goes on about the flying saucer or diner. She sounds we speak about, is not a military secret, and is not yet owned by any government. The flying saucer which was seen over south Chicago last April, is a large fuel tank with crystal glass wings. It has two large jet engines on both sides. It is radio controlled. It resembles a saucer very much when in flight 62-83894·242 The wings cannot be seen on a clear day. This is so it is a most difficult target for anti-aircraft gunners. The reason for the large flat gas or fuel tank in to give the ship a long range for atomic bombing. The ship was designed by Fred Spauhold, a former "Linco" skywriter. Frank Houchpaw, aircraft mechanic, and Carl Deichman German world war I are. The ship was financed by Howard Hughes, millivolt aviation enthusiast. It is now being tested by the Glenn Y. 62-83894-242
