~ attempted to sketch his impressions of the instrument which he claims to -
have seen. .
Concerning URIE•s sketches, it nay be noted that be beliewd the
rolled outer edge which he attempted to create in his drawil'.lg to have been about
a toot through. URIE lik»wise believed that the tubing or exhaust flame which
be and his sons claim to have seen was about a toot through and extended at
least to the ba.ok end of the device. The flame did not appear to taper ott nor
to widen out toward the back.
BI~Y and ~IE stated that they could see a knot on the side ot
the device tran which the !'lanes were shooting, and that they could see day
light between the exhaust flame and the side of the device. The flames did not
leave a.ny smoke or odor•
A The URIE boys thought that the "side view" sketch should show that
k:J the device was more sharply angled from bottan to top, while URIE himself
C thought that it was more streamlined and curved. URIE said that the instru-

~ In his notations• URIE mistakenly said tmt he had seen it on Thurs
day. During interview, he stated that it a ctually had been on Wednesday,
August 13, 1947, when he and his sons saw the oontrivanoe about 1:00 P. Me
... URIE explai:md that he had sent his boys to the river to get some
rope f'ran his boat. When he thought they were overdue, he v.oent outside histJ! tool shed to look for them. Be noticed them about 300 f'eet away looking in
\ the sky and he glanced up to see what he called the flying disc. He said he

URIE further stated that the contrivance was about seventy-five
f'eet in the air• URIE r ides in the depths ot the Snake River Canyon. which
is about .four hundred et deep and twelve hundred .teet across at that place. ~
According to his ace t, the contrivance was about three hundred feet below
the rim of the oan and,, he saw it against the steep walls ot the canyon on
the tar side. -e ~ its color as sq blue and stated that he doubted
if it could be e a t the sky. He likewise said that it was purely by
