This FBI file section (62-HQ-83894, Section 2) collects 1947 Bureau memoranda, teletypes and enclosures on reported flying discs. It includes a Newark interview report on a disc seen at Hackensack, New Jersey on August 3, a Detroit report on fused sand from Midland, Michigan, and War Department requests to investigate Richard F. Shaver of Lily Lake, Illinois after sightings over southern Wisconsin. It also covers Army Air Forces investigation reports and a Delaware pilot's claimed rocket-like sightings near Rehoboth Beach.

and was advised that the Bureau was not intere8ted, whenupon he notii"ied
the Eastern Airlines and the Civil Aeronautic Authority- of the objects
he had seen. Both agencies are reported to have accepted the information
stating they would investigate. The clipping further stated that Mr.
WENYON had received no answer to date from either agency.
This clipping was submitted to me by the resident agents 1 o£!1ce at
Wilmington together with the advice that no agent in Wilmington had been
contacted b7 Ur. WENYON. I directed Kr. WENYON be interviewed to determine
the ful1 .facts.
:rtr. '!JIENYON was interrlewed and it was determined that his correct name is
HORACE P...,.JIENYON. 1tr. WENYON advised that he had been an airplane pilot
approximate'.cy thirty- years. He stated that in SeptElllber of 1946, 71hile ~Ilg
at an a1 ·.,itude of 1,000 feet, two or three miles south of Rehoboth Beach,
.Dela~ .1.'e, he noticed a projectile approximately fifteen inches in diameter
which crossed his course at right angles and was moving in a west-to-east
direction. According to lfr. WENYON, several jeta 0£ name were spurting
from the object and it was traveling at a very high rate of speed, 11000
to 1,200 miles per hour. He stated that in October of 1946, he observed a
similar projectile while ~ing over Rehoboth Beach at 1,400 £eat~ 1bis

Vr. 'WENYON stated that there is little question in his mind but that llbat
he saw was some sort of rocket being test,ed. He stated that he 111.shed to

might in part be explained by what he had observed. He stated tr
