This FBI file section (62-HQ-83894, Section 2) collects 1947 Bureau memoranda, teletypes and enclosures on reported flying discs. It includes a Newark interview report on a disc seen at Hackensack, New Jersey on August 3, a Detroit report on fused sand from Midland, Michigan, and War Department requests to investigate Richard F. Shaver of Lily Lake, Illinois after sightings over southern Wisconsin. It also covers Army Air Forces investigation reports and a Delaware pilot's claimed rocket-like sightings near Rehoboth Beach.

Reference is mde to my letter of August 8 , 1947 , with which there
were transmitted photostatic copies of three letters dated August 4 , 1947,
entitl ed , "Investigation of Flying Discs".
In order to keep the Bur eau fully informed qoncerning this matter ,
I am enclosing a letter dated July 28 , 1947 , entitled , "Unidentifiable Ob
jects" furnished to me by Lt . Colonel DO ALD L. SPRil1GER, GSC , A C of S A- 2 •
Enclosed with this l etter was a memorandum for the officer in charge written
