This FBI file section (62-HQ-83894, Section 2) collects 1947 Bureau memoranda, teletypes and enclosures on reported flying discs. It includes a Newark interview report on a disc seen at Hackensack, New Jersey on August 3, a Detroit report on fused sand from Midland, Michigan, and War Department requests to investigate Richard F. Shaver of Lily Lake, Illinois after sightings over southern Wisconsin. It also covers Army Air Forces investigation reports and a Delaware pilot's claimed rocket-like sightings near Rehoboth Beach.

SUBJECT: FLYING DISCS
Remy-tel August 20, 1947.
With reference to the above-described teletype, Mr. H. H. \ HEDSTROM,
322 Third Avenue North, Twin F~lls, !daho, was the principal source of infor
mation. Mr. HEDSTROM, who is the Executive Director of ~ Twin Falls Housing
Authority• explained that he and his '¢.fe and Mrs. HENRY SHULTZ• a neighbor, were
sitting on their front poroh at appro;rlmately 9s30 P. M., August 19, 1947. He
said that Mrs. HEDSTROM suddenly shouted and pointed to sky and therea.fter.
stated that she had seen an object tra\reling at a terrific rate of speed in a
northeasterly direction. The object was out of sight before Mr. HEDSTROM and
Mrs. SHULTZ could see anything• I
While they were discussing what Mrs. HEDSTROM ha.d seen. approximately
ten minutes later all three saw ten similar objects proceeding rapidly in the
same direction in the form of a triangle. As the group of objects was dis~
appearing, three of the objects on the left flank peeled off and proceeded in
a IIX)re northerly direction. The remaining objects appeared to close
saw
ranks and
proceeded in a northeasterly direction.
From three to five minutes later these same in vi us.ls
group of three ob jects proceeding in the same direction, and again in e shape
of a triangle. From three to f'ive minutes later all three observed another
group in a triangular formation consisting of five or six objects. They were
proceeding in the same direction.
A fevr minutes later the three persons saw a large group or objects
estimated at from thirty-five to .fifty .flying in a triangular formation in the
same direction. Approximately twenty or twenty-five minutes after the large
group of objects was observed, similar objects were noted cOl'.ning back over the
oity in a southwesterly direction. These ob jects were generally in groups ot
three• five and seven and followed each other at approximately five minute inter
vals.
Mrs. HEDSTR014 called Deteotive RICHARD A. FRAZIER of the Twin Falls
Police Department, a next door neighbor. who was then accompanied by M. E.
ROUNTREE and RICHARD SCOTT• aleo Ill:lmbers of the Twin Fal ls Police Depar~nt.
The three officers watched £or a f'ew minutes and observed a group of about
twelve objects flying in formation over the city in a southwesterly direction.
The IIJ3mbers of the Police Departm3nt did not continue watchiFng,ough Mr.al
FRAZIER later saw other groups. which were also seen by the HE S and Mrs.
SHULTZ. Mrs. SHULTZ had also o led her husband, who saw s the objects.
