This Air Materiel Command file, released by the U.S. Department of War, holds Incident Summary Sheets 173 through 233, sent under a 1949 transmittal. Most of the sheets record sightings of unidentified aerial objects in 1948 and early 1949. They cover Santa Fe, New Mexico, San Pablo, California, Honolulu, Kentwood, Louisiana, and Jackson, Mississippi. Each sheet gives the observer's details and the object's size, speed and shape, and often an investigator's note on how reliable the witness seemed. The file ends with a blank guide for investigating reports, including radar sightings.

1. Project Sign is engaged in the collection, collection, compilation, evaluation and analysis of all information on unidentified flying objects, and is authorized under provisions of Technical Instructions 21-5, Addendum No. 5, dated 11 Feb 19, to obtain the assistance and cooperation of all agencies and facilities under the Jurisdiction of the Air Veteral Command.

2. In this connection, your cooperation is required in reporting to this office, any clips which may have been made by the Flight Test Section with raw jobs or other experimental types of propulsion causing long pulses or flares, during the darkness of 3 December 1944.
