U.S. Department of War · 144 pages · text by GLM-OCR

This Air Materiel Command file, released by the U.S. Department of War, holds Incident Summary Sheets 173 through 233, sent under a 1949 transmittal. Most of the sheets record sightings of unidentified aerial objects in 1948 and early 1949. They cover Santa Fe, New Mexico, San Pablo, California, Honolulu, Kentwood, Louisiana, and Jackson, Mississippi. Each sheet gives the observer's details and the object's size, speed and shape, and often an investigator's note on how reliable the witness seemed. The file ends with a blank guide for investigating reports, including radar sightings.

Statement of Mr John C. Fairchild does not tally with that of A. Huble Angier. See Incident 175

Mr Fairchild saw a bright silvery oblong or egg-shaped object which appeared to have a speed of 700 to 800 MPHand which seemed to have a sort of sunflower shape at the end of it but apart from the object and close on its tail. He perceived a bluish appearance to rear of the object which could have been exhaust. To him the object appeared silvery instead of white and oblong rather than round. Mr Angier thought the object remained stationary. However the discrepancy in time could have accounted for this. Apparently Mr Fairchild observed the object some 15 minutes before Mr Angier observed it. Also it would seem that he watched it for a greater length of time in that he mentions that it faded from view whereas Mr Angier stated that it was still in view when he left.
