This is a preliminary Part II transcript of the Gemini 5 (GT-5) flight crew debriefing, prepared by the Spacecraft Operations Branch of NASA's Flight Crew Support Division and dated September 2, 1965. It records astronauts Cooper and Conrad at the Crew Quarters, Cape Kennedy. They discuss how the spacecraft systems worked, including the platform and the OAMS thruster failures. The transcript also covers operational checks, visual sightings, experiments, training, premission planning, and medical aspects. It was originally classified Confidential.

This document is a preliminary transcript (Part II) derived from voice recordings of the Gemini 5 flight crew technical debriefing. NASA conducted this debriefing between August 30, 1965, and September 2, 1965, at the Crew Quarters, Cape Kennedy, Florida. Astronauts L. Gordon Cooper and Charles “Pete” Conrad described observing debris and “snow” and “all sorts of glittering pieces of this, that and the other thing” in the “Visual Sightings” section of the document (pages 157-220).

14.4 Centrifuge
Conrad We didn ' t miss the centrifuge at al l. The fact that
we didn't go , I didn ' t feel that I wae1 left out of
anything.
Cooper No, I don't think we missed a thing wi th the centri
fuge.
Conrad I think you should ride it, you know, a time or two
or something like that.
Cooper I think if nobody has ever ridden cen·;rifuge--
Conrad • . ..boost profile or reentry profile :.s worth running
a coupl e of nominals in your shirt s l eeves. I don't
think you need instruments or anything, but--
Cooper I think if no one has ever ridden one before I think
it is worthwhile they ride the centri::uge just to get
the fee l of what it is like. But, so far as-- you
never even feel those g's . You don't even know you'.ve
got g's. You are so busy doing thing13 and you 're
just "clickt y-cli ckty-cl ick." You don 't notice them
at all . And that l evel of g is not en ough to even
worry about.
14. 5 Translation and Docking Trainer
Conrad The tracking tests that we did on the Agena, you know,
for the camera, was real good. I diQ1 1 t do the one
up in Denver but the one in the Agena was real good,
up to, and of course we woul d onl y get up as far as
