This is a preliminary Part II transcript of the Gemini 5 (GT-5) flight crew debriefing, prepared by the Spacecraft Operations Branch of NASA's Flight Crew Support Division and dated September 2, 1965. It records astronauts Cooper and Conrad at the Crew Quarters, Cape Kennedy. They discuss how the spacecraft systems worked, including the platform and the OAMS thruster failures. The transcript also covers operational checks, visual sightings, experiments, training, premission planning, and medical aspects. It was originally classified Confidential.

This document is a preliminary transcript (Part II) derived from voice recordings of the Gemini 5 flight crew technical debriefing. NASA conducted this debriefing between August 30, 1965, and September 2, 1965, at the Crew Quarters, Cape Kennedy, Florida. Astronauts L. Gordon Cooper and Charles “Pete” Conrad described observing debris and “snow” and “all sorts of glittering pieces of this, that and the other thing” in the “Visual Sightings” section of the document (pages 157-220).

Now at 01 days, 14 hours, 53 minutes, 10 seeonds we did a 405 and I have the notation "boreBight okay." And that was where we calibrated our RAD gages. They were all right. -At 16 hours, 03 m:.nutes, we di d 422 which was the moon measurements . We got 2 minutes and tape recorder on that .. Then we go to the next day. On the second day , 14 hours, 06 minutes, 00 seconds 420 wh:.ch was a horizon to nadir measurement and back again, and I believe IR cloud findings sweep. You'll have to correlate what pa.rt of the worlcl that was in. I'm not sure that it wasn't over Ancension. 03 days, 12 hours, 50 minutes , 00 seconds we did a 408 which was a black sky measurement and void black space. It was done over an Hxper iments station . It was done over Carnarvon. ~:hen on 03 days, 16 hours, 02 minutes, 00 seconcls we did a 409 for 4 minutes over Carna.rvon. This was Zodiacal light measurement. At 03 clays, 16 hours, 07 minutes, 50 seconds we did a 41013' which was Alpha Signus or Deneb. \le got
