This is a preliminary Part II transcript of the Gemini 5 (GT-5) flight crew debriefing, prepared by the Spacecraft Operations Branch of NASA's Flight Crew Support Division and dated September 2, 1965. It records astronauts Cooper and Conrad at the Crew Quarters, Cape Kennedy. They discuss how the spacecraft systems worked, including the platform and the OAMS thruster failures. The transcript also covers operational checks, visual sightings, experiments, training, premission planning, and medical aspects. It was originally classified Confidential.

This document is a preliminary transcript (Part II) derived from voice recordings of the Gemini 5 flight crew technical debriefing. NASA conducted this debriefing between August 30, 1965, and September 2, 1965, at the Crew Quarters, Cape Kennedy, Florida. Astronauts L. Gordon Cooper and Charles “Pete” Conrad described observing debris and “snow” and “all sorts of glittering pieces of this, that and the other thing” in the “Visual Sightings” section of the document (pages 157-220).

107 reworked them. I lmow we drove thos e guys nu ts down there , but I ' ll tell you, there are darn few things I ' d change on these set of cards right now, after having flown the flight . They really helped us. And the experiments book helped us and the log book worked well , and I think we kept things fairly straight . Cooper In general , I thi nk the books worked out very, very wel l . Conrad Our big flight plan book worked out well , it didn't get in the way . Our reentry book, I t hink, could be made smaller. I would recommend next t i me that they put the schematics together like Neil did in the GOH Junior, which turned out that he had the schematics in a b◊Ok that was 10 inches high and 2 1/ 2 inches wide and about 1/ 2 inch thick. Just by folding them a certain way, and this you would put away and never pull out. Now, everytime we hauled out that reentry book to do anythi ng, we had all the schematics and everything. We really didn ' t need to haul those around all the time. We could have found a proper plac e for them. So , I ' m not complaining against the reentry book and I wouldn ' t take anything out of it.
