This is a preliminary transcript of the Gemini V (GT-5) flight crew debriefing, prepared by NASA's Spacecraft Operations Branch, Flight Crew Support Division, and dated September 1, 1965. It records Cooper and Conrad's operational account from the debriefing held August 30 to September 1, 1965 at Cape Kennedy. Topics include countdown, window fogging, POGO vibration, fairing jettison debris, radio loss, reentry and recovery. Visual sightings are left for a later part of the debriefing.

We couldn ' t se e it at all unti l we were almost over i t and then I found the target . We could see the smoke and we were looking at the smoke and looking at the smoke-- The sun angle wa s very low and it was very bad but just after we got right on top of i t and going on over I located the targets and was trying to point them out to Pete . At least I sor-; of got a pattern on the ground and I think tha·; ' s why I could find them. I recognized the pa·;tern on the general area of the ground that I could find . They were in between two r ivers and a bi g r e i mud hill. Okay, what did we get on that? That wa:3 next and I got on that one . Let's see that was three and four and 18 hour s and one day 20 hours 4 minutes 43 seconds . We got that . And then S- 8 , D- 13 , The same one . The same one we were discussing there.
