This is a preliminary transcript of the Gemini V (GT-5) flight crew debriefing, prepared by NASA's Spacecraft Operations Branch, Flight Crew Support Division, and dated September 1, 1965. It records Cooper and Conrad's operational account from the debriefing held August 30 to September 1, 1965 at Cape Kennedy. Topics include countdown, window fogging, POGO vibration, fairing jettison debris, radio loss, reentry and recovery. Visual sightings are left for a later part of the debriefing.

Conrad He didn ' t check his ground information, becaus e if he ' d looked at his boar d , he would t.ave seen that the computer was in r eentry. He could have told us to put it in prelaunch. It all happened so fast . Boy, my heart r eally sank , because we had that thing-- we were all set up . We were rea~y to go and everything and that was a bi g· blitz.· Now , after 121 orbits and we'd left the Cape after stateside track. Why, after 121 orbits did they have to update that thing between the Cape and Carnarvon? I mean they should have known where the heck we where . I just don ' t understand it . Cooper I don ' t either and if they are going to play around with that , boy, my feelings r ight now on i t is that that DCS circuit breaker oug~t to be off all the time. I felt that way befo:ce , and I deci ded well , those guys worked out so well that maybe it would work , but after that one time , that just convinced me that you ought to just
