This is a preliminary transcript of Part II of the Gemini 4 (GT-4) flight crew debriefing, prepared by NASA's Spacecraft Operations Branch, Flight Crew Support Division, and dated June 18, 1965. The debriefing began aboard the recovery ship USS Wasp and ended at the Manned Spacecraft Center. In it, astronauts McDivitt and White discuss how the spacecraft systems performed, including the platform, OAMS, RCS and control modes. They also cover operational checks, visual sightings, experiments, mission planning and training, and give recommendations for future crews.

Part II of this document contains the “Visual Sightings” section of the debriefing (pages 196-224), where astronauts James McDivitt and Edward White describe their observations while aboard the spacecraft.

No. I don't think so either. You know , the
thing that did look brighter to me was that
planet right over by the sun . When the sun set,
that planet would really stand out.
I noticed another thing on the planete, I didn't
notice--which one is in Leo now?
I don ' t know.
It ' s Mars. Mars is around Leo now, and it
didn ' t look as orange . To me it looked roughly
the same color as Venus did, and remember I
remarked on that up there, which is a very
interesting thing now . I presumed that the
color should stay the same.
I didn't notice any difference between it up
there and here on the gTOund.
It didn't have to me the characteristic orange
color that it has when I look at it from down
here . It looks more like a regular old--
A regular old star , huh?
No, it looked likr the planets, and remember I
remarked on that.
I think you did, now that you mention it.
And we probably went on doing somethi.ng else and
forgot about it. Let ' s talk about the air glow.
