This is a preliminary transcript of Part I of the Gemini 4 (GT-4) flight crew debriefing. The Spacecraft Operations Branch of NASA's Flight Crew Support Division prepared it on June 16, 1965, from recordings of the debriefing held aboard the USS Wasp on June 9, 1965. In it, astronauts McDivitt and White describe the mission from an operational viewpoint, covering countdown, powered flight, insertion, orbital operations, reentry, landing and recovery. According to the preface, visual sightings were left for a later part.

79 McDivitt White McDivitt White I was in a horizontal position and I thrusted down using my top thrusters , so that I would try to keep the booster in my view. Thrusting, chasing the booster , and alining the platform all at the same time--those are the kinds of things you have to do . So, I never did get the platform alined . I did not have time . I got it somewhere near local horizontal . If I was within pl us or minus 5 degrees in the axis , I think I did a reasonably gooi job , The Thruster Control Mode Checks that took place at 15 minutes I didn't do as such . I would just thr ow it into a different mode and thrust . I just did it with a catch~as~atch-can . I did check out the different modes . Everything seemed to be working. You weren ' t getting My thrusters that weren ' t f iring, and your modes all seemed to me to be working pr operly . It looked pretty good. I had one comment on the Co~munications System Check . Remember we lost good communications with No . 1 UHF and we switched to No . 2 and seemed to have good communications with it
