National Aeronautics and Space Administration · 1965-06-09 · 340 pages · text from the file's own layer

This is a preliminary transcript of Part I of the Gemini 4 (GT-4) flight crew debriefing. The Spacecraft Operations Branch of NASA's Flight Crew Support Division prepared it on June 16, 1965, from recordings of the debriefing held aboard the USS Wasp on June 9, 1965. In it, astronauts McDivitt and White describe the mission from an operational viewpoint, covering countdown, powered flight, insertion, orbital operations, reentry, landing and recovery. According to the preface, visual sightings were left for a later part.

I had a couple of little holes right down at the
bottom where I could see swimmers down there , and
I could s e e the nose , but I couldn ' t see up at all .
We were talking about the main chute there . I saw
the drogue chute floating down right next to it-
drogue chute and the pilot chute with the R & R
can floating down right next to it . They were
coming down through about- -1et 1s see . We were on
our backs then , weren't we? We still hadn't gone
to two- point?
I don't remember .
I don ' t remember either .
I was so busy taking blood pressures .
W~ had the drogue chute and the pilot chute floating
down with us for a long time just off to one side
going do'Wl'l about the same rate . I thought that
they were supposed to go down slower , but I guess
it doesn ' t . I guess what probably happened was
we saw them at single- point , but when we went to
two-point , we lost sight of them . Okay . We didn't
have any leaks that I could tell . We had electrical
power. I didn ' t check to see what the secondary
o2 pressure was . Did you , F,d?
No . I didn ' t .
