Preliminary Gemini 4 Crew Debriefing, Part I, 1965

This is a preliminary transcript of Part I of the Gemini 4 (GT-4) flight crew debriefing. The Spacecraft Operations Branch of NASA's Flight Crew Support Division prepared it on June 16, 1965, from recordings of the debriefing held aboard the USS Wasp on June 9, 1965. In it, astronauts McDivitt and White describe the mission from an operational viewpoint, covering countdown, powered flight, insertion, orbital operations, reentry, landing and recovery. According to the preface, visual sightings were left for a later part.

That ' s when Ed hollered , "'l'here go the pump
packages ! I see two pump packages out there .
Just exactly what John Young said!"
They separate right off to the left side . Jim
couldn ' t see them because of the position of
his head . I could see them .
That 's right . I never saw them at all .
I could clearly see the t wo pumps together on
the mounting and mounted together. They were
right together. And I'll back John up to hilt
on tha t one. I saw t hem too .
We got the ad~pter separated with all the at
tendent flying pump packages .
Quite a flourish , isn ' t it?
Right . I t sure is . It was a big bang. There ' s
no doubt about it . At TR- 30 , the TR- 30
Sequence Light s ceme on , and at that t:Lme Ed
said , "The s aquence 1 ights came on about a
second or a second and a half in advance. "
