National Aeronautics and Space Administration · 1965-06-09 · 340 pages · text from the file's own layer
This is a preliminary transcript of Part I of the Gemini 4 (GT-4) flight crew debriefing. The Spacecraft Operations Branch of NASA's Flight Crew Support Division prepared it on June 16, 1965, from recordings of the debriefing held aboard the USS Wasp on June 9, 1965. In it, astronauts McDivitt and White describe the mission from an operational viewpoint, covering countdown, powered flight, insertion, orbital operations, reentry, landing and recovery. According to the preface, visual sightings were left for a later part.

things go.
I agree with you. I knew we weren ' t going to hold
it when that lift-off went.
Roll program came in at ten seconds just like it
was supposed to. I t was smooth, and it was just
the way it was planned, on at ten seconds and went
out at twenty seconds. Could you see it roll
out the window?
You can see everything out the window, I think.
You can probably tell by the way the sun rays are
moving, can't you?
Yes, by change in lighting. The right seat has
a better view. You have to watch the guages so
closely.
I didn ' t even look out the window.
I know you didn't.
Pitch program started just like it was supposed
to, at twenty three seconds. Pitched over the
proper amount, the pitch needles looked like
they were hanging in there all the way.
You could see the booster pitch definitely, and
that was mainly due to a change in the lighting.
