This is a preliminary transcript of Part I of the Gemini 4 (GT-4) flight crew debriefing. The Spacecraft Operations Branch of NASA's Flight Crew Support Division prepared it on June 16, 1965, from recordings of the debriefing held aboard the USS Wasp on June 9, 1965. In it, astronauts McDivitt and White describe the mission from an operational viewpoint, covering countdown, powered flight, insertion, orbital operations, reentry, landing and recovery. According to the preface, visual sightings were left for a later part.

McDivi tt White McDivitt us on it . We could switch over t o it quite quickly . This wasn't on the checklist , but we put my switch on RECORD and recorded the whole sequence of events. That ' s right . I t hink that was sort of a needless position . You could l isten on HF without having the transmitter on . That was the only discrepancy t hat I fow1d in our checklist . Everything else we went through . One other t hing. They had , "Insert a new voice tape , " and we both felt we wanted the full reentry on one tape . If we put a new voice tape at this time we wouldn ' t have gotten it . So , I inserted a new voice tape at the Minus 36 Checklist and I think this is a good time to do it on future flights . Yes, the TR-36 Checklist was to be done over Carnarvon. We decided that we would check the maneuver thrusters prior to Carnarvon since we had a lot of time . There was no sense in waiting until t he checklist time ca.me around . Since we had a lot of time , which was the thing I was striving for , I went ahead and COl\lftD·EN--T~L
