Preliminary Gemini 4 Crew Debriefing, Part I, 1965

This is a preliminary transcript of Part I of the Gemini 4 (GT-4) flight crew debriefing. The Spacecraft Operations Branch of NASA's Flight Crew Support Division prepared it on June 16, 1965, from recordings of the debriefing held aboard the USS Wasp on June 9, 1965. In it, astronauts McDivitt and White describe the mission from an operational viewpoint, covering countdown, powered flight, insertion, orbital operations, reentry, landing and recovery. According to the preface, visual sightings were left for a later part.

We had that on the l aunch also .

It didn ' t have anything heavy in it . It was
light weight .
It was all trash .
Dry trash .
It all stayed there pretty well . We di d get
the stowage done in time . I think we had about
10 or 15 minutes in which to collect our wits

That' s right . I was trying to make an -effort
such that at the time we arrived over Carnarvon
the greatest part of the stowage would be
down. However, we didn ' t quite make this . I
had a time powering up the spacecraft , and I
had the IGS power on . I had already turned
the IMlJ on. I was beginning to warm it up ,
and had it in the Cage Mode .
When we got to Carnarvon we were still stowing
