This is a preliminary transcript of Part I of the Gemini 4 (GT-4) flight crew debriefing. The Spacecraft Operations Branch of NASA's Flight Crew Support Division prepared it on June 16, 1965, from recordings of the debriefing held aboard the USS Wasp on June 9, 1965. In it, astronauts McDivitt and White describe the mission from an operational viewpoint, covering countdown, powered flight, insertion, orbital operations, reentry, landing and recovery. According to the preface, visual sightings were left for a later part.

We wer e down through what we felt was all the fuel we wanted to use , so about all I did was a couple of tracking tasks . Going back for a moment, - at 17 :19 I did an Apollo D- 6 on Yuma. Okay, I t hink that bri ngs us t o the preretro portion of the mission. Right , Ed? Yes, sir. I think you 'll find there are ~uite a few errors and omissions in what we've put on the tape right now . I t hink you have to com pare them both--the two tapes together--to get anyt hing. That's like air to ground tape , also .· That ' s right . It has to all be put together . This is jus t a piece right here. White We really started our preretro preparation about three hours prior to preretro .
