This Federal Bureau of Investigation Seattle field office file (100-18945) gathers flying saucer material from 1952 to 1960. It holds newspaper clippings, citizen complaint forms and agent memoranda about sightings over Pasco, Kennewick, Seattle, Richland and the Hanford reservation, Spokane and other Washington locations. The file records 1952 agreements with military intelligence on passing reports to OSI and the Air Force. One Hanford sighting from 1953 was attributed to a meteorological balloon. The FBI itself carried out no investigations.

Connor SUBJECT: Unidentified Flying Object; Marysville, Washington 4/19/59 Mrs E.R.WITHROW Complaintant At Everett, Washington ALL INFORMATION CONTAINED HEREIN IS UNCLASSIFIED On 4/20/59 Mrs E.R. Withrow, Cemetery Road, Marysville, Washington (OL-93915) telephonically advised that on the preceding evening she and four of her neighbors observed an unidentified flying object over the Whidbey Island area. She went on to say that she personally looked at this object for some 40 minutes with binoculars and that it was no figment of her imagination. She related that she did not want any publicity about this but that she felt it her duty to report as one of her relatives had seen such a thing down in California and the authorities had been unhappy because he was late in reporting it. Mrs Withrow was advised that her information would be made available to the United States Air Force who would contact her if necessary. $$ 1 0 0 - 1 8 9 + 1 5 = 7 3 $$ On 4/20/59 this information was furnished to Lt DeLeon Wilson, Provost Marshal at Paine AFB who advised that the Air Force is interested in such matters and would contact Mrs WITHROW and others observers in order to attempt to determine to logical explanation for such.
