Washington State ‘UFO’ Investigation, 1952-1960

This Federal Bureau of Investigation Seattle field office file (100-18945) gathers flying saucer material from 1952 to 1960. It holds newspaper clippings, citizen complaint forms and agent memoranda about sightings over Pasco, Kennewick, Seattle, Richland and the Hanford reservation, Spokane and other Washington locations. The file records 1952 agreements with military intelligence on passing reports to OSI and the Air Force. One Hanford sighting from 1953 was attributed to a meteorological balloon. The FBI itself carried out no investigations.

SUBJECT: FLYING SAUCERS BERTHA HARRISON, Compaainant

On 12/1/58, Mrs. BERTHA HARRISON, 2812 Moore Street, Bellingham, Washington appeared at the Bellingham R.A. and advised she had received a letter from a Veterinarian in Kansas City who was interested in newspaper reports that Mrs. HARRISON had spotted a second flying saucer over Bellingham. The letter bore the return address Dr. and Mrs. RICHARD BUCHLI, DVM, 6621 El Monte Drive, Kansas City 15. Mrs. HARRISON explained that on the occasion of her first sighting of a flying saucer she had furnished details to Mr. HOOVER who had replied that he was furnishing the information to Air Force authorities in San Diego.
