This Federal Bureau of Investigation Seattle field office file (100-18945) gathers flying saucer material from 1952 to 1960. It holds newspaper clippings, citizen complaint forms and agent memoranda about sightings over Pasco, Kennewick, Seattle, Richland and the Hanford reservation, Spokane and other Washington locations. The file records 1952 agreements with military intelligence on passing reports to OSI and the Air Force. One Hanford sighting from 1953 was attributed to a meteorological balloon. The FBI itself carried out no investigations.

Reference is made to letter from your District, dated 8 June 1954, subject as above. 2. This office interposes no objection to the dissemination of information concerning "Unidentified Flying Objects" to the local Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, provided that such dissemination meets with the approval of the Commander, 25th Air Division (Defense). Disposition of actual or suspected items of material relating to "Unidentified Flying Objects" will continue to be made in accordance with the provisions of AFR 200-2. 3. Dissemination of information of this type is not made by this office to the FBI at national level, nor has Headquarters FBI expressed an interest in receiving this type of information.
