This Federal Bureau of Investigation Seattle field office file (100-18945) gathers flying saucer material from 1952 to 1960. It holds newspaper clippings, citizen complaint forms and agent memoranda about sightings over Pasco, Kennewick, Seattle, Richland and the Hanford reservation, Spokane and other Washington locations. The file records 1952 agreements with military intelligence on passing reports to OSI and the Air Force. One Hanford sighting from 1953 was attributed to a meteorological balloon. The FBI itself carried out no investigations.

# Saucer Again Is Reported Over Tacoma Flying saucers returned to Tacoma at midnight Monday, according to at least seven persons who reported watching an orange ball appear, then shrink and disappear. The ball was first noticed by a Tacoma transit driver, Richard K. Hirist of 914 So. Wright St., who stopped to let off a passenger at Union as he made the 6th Ave. run into town. His three passengers also saw the glow, so Hirist stopped at a restaurant, where he found three more believers and put in a call to McChord Air Force Base. At McChord's tower, however, they were unable to locate the phenomenon. The seven persons then watched while the glow "shrunk to the size of a grapefruit, then to the size of an orange, and disappeared," Hirst reported.
