This Federal Bureau of Investigation Seattle field office file (100-18945) gathers flying saucer material from 1952 to 1960. It holds newspaper clippings, citizen complaint forms and agent memoranda about sightings over Pasco, Kennewick, Seattle, Richland and the Hanford reservation, Spokane and other Washington locations. The file records 1952 agreements with military intelligence on passing reports to OSI and the Air Force. One Hanford sighting from 1953 was attributed to a meteorological balloon. The FBI itself carried out no investigations.

## Policeman Sees Flying Saucer Three Tacoma policemen have now seen flying saucers, so they must be "real." they say. Latest to witness the mysterious phenomena is Oliver Tiedeman who said he was much impressed Monday night in a close view of one of the saucers while driving from Doty toward Chehalis. Tiedeman said he and his passenger, Phil Raboln, Olympia organist, saw the whatsit at the same moment while in a dark wooded area. "I stopped the car and we both jumped out to watch it," said Tiedeman. "It seemed to be traveling northward at a terrific speed and then was suddenly slowed to a stop. It seemed entirely motionless for a few seconds and then sped suddenly eastward, disappearing over the foothills." While other reports from the Puget Sound district told of some persons seeing as many as five or six of the objects, Tiedeman said the one he saw was traveling alone. On July 7, 1947, at 2:30 a. m., Prowl Car Officers Stan Johnson and Evan Davies were cruising on the Jackson-Alexander Road when one of the saucers stopped several minutes over The Narrows before later veering southeasterly over the city suburbs.
