Newark Field Office, 1952-1967

This Federal Bureau of Investigation Newark Field Office file covers 1952 to 1967 and mostly holds memos recording phone calls from New Jersey residents about unidentified flying objects. Agents usually passed these reports to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. It also includes a 1952 OSI request to look into the backgrounds of photographer John H. Riley and witness George J. Stock of Passaic, a 1963 Air Force letter to Hoover enclosing a Saucer News item, NICAP correspondence, and newspaper clippings about flying saucer clubs.

Street, Cli telephonically contacted this office
at 8:46 p. to advise that he had seen an unidenti-
fied flying object ) at 8:30 p.a., 8/27/57. SCHEY state4
that he observed a object in the sky due west of Clifton,·
N. J. According SCHEY, the object had a shape reaeabliag
that of an underwater deaolition boab and light, in the shape
of a croas, waa colling fro• within this UFO. SCHEY stated
that he, with the use of hia field glasses, was able to see
what looked like diaaond-ahaped holes in the u:ro froa which
the ligat eaitted.
Agent GEORGE WEBTZ, 081 Duty Officer, was telephonically
contacted at his hoae at 8:51 p.a., 8/27/57, and advised of
the above.
