Newark Field Office, 1952-1967

This Federal Bureau of Investigation Newark Field Office file covers 1952 to 1967 and mostly holds memos recording phone calls from New Jersey residents about unidentified flying objects. Agents usually passed these reports to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. It also includes a 1952 OSI request to look into the backgrounds of photographer John H. Riley and witness George J. Stock of Passaic, a 1963 Air Force letter to Hoover enclosing a Saucer News item, NICAP correspondence, and newspaper clippings about flying saucer clubs.

From a southwesterly rection they observed a long,
cylindrical, dark silver object th no wings but fins on the rear,
moving along toward the n.ortheas There were no marki.rtgs on the,i
object, it was not flying high nor aet and they could not tell 1.f
it made any noise since there was a plane flying nearby at the same
time.
She recalled there were no other neighbors out at the 'time
and they apparently were the only ones who saw it.
She stated that the object returned from the dire~tion
it had gone about dusk and it seemed as though there was some
motor noise from it. It flew into the southwest at a higher altitude
