This 1954 to 1955 file of U.S. Air Force Directorate of Intelligence correspondence gathers letters and memos about the Unidentified Flying Object Program. In one memo, the Air Force says an object that fell at Sylacauga, Alabama was identified as a meteorite at the Air Technical Intelligence Center. Donald Keyhoe questions the Office of Naval Research about the Navy's analysis of the Tremonton film, and the Navy says data are insufficient and it sees no danger. Most of the replies to the public enclose the Air Force UFO summary.

This file contains correspondence relating to Project Blue Book, a 1952-1969 U.S. Air Force program to investigate the nature and origin of unidentified flying objects (UFO). The correspondence includes letters and memoranda sent between various departments and agencies of the U.S. Government, the Legislative Branch, and private citizens concerning UFO sightings and the research and findings of Project Blue Book.

Air Force Subj: Unidentified flying objects; request for information concerning 1. Various technical personnel within this Office have an acute scientific interest in the results obtained in the current investigation of unidentified flying objects. For this reason it is requested that a briefing on this subject be arranged for the purpose of acquainting these personnel with the data obtained from reliable reports of sightings classified as being of unknown cause. 2. It is suggested that an informal question-and-answer type discussion be scheduled on some mutually convenient date during February in Room 1803, T-3 Building. Those in attendance, approximately 25 in number, will be limited to senior technical personnel from this Office and certain individuals from other cognizant naval activities in this area. All those attending will have clearance through secret and a definite need-to-know. Final arrangements can be made with LCDR F. L. Thomas (extension 62945) who is acting as Liaison Officer to the Air Force on this problem. 3. The cooperation of the Air Force in making such a briefing possible will be appreciated. O. H.
