This 1954 to 1955 file of U.S. Air Force Directorate of Intelligence correspondence gathers letters and memos about the Unidentified Flying Object Program. In one memo, the Air Force says an object that fell at Sylacauga, Alabama was identified as a meteorite at the Air Technical Intelligence Center. Donald Keyhoe questions the Office of Naval Research about the Navy's analysis of the Tremonton film, and the Navy says data are insufficient and it sees no danger. Most of the replies to the public enclose the Air Force UFO summary.

This file contains correspondence relating to Project Blue Book, a 1952-1969 U.S. Air Force program to investigate the nature and origin of unidentified flying objects (UFO). The correspondence includes letters and memoranda sent between various departments and agencies of the U.S. Government, the Legislative Branch, and private citizens concerning UFO sightings and the research and findings of Project Blue Book.

Dear Sir: I have recently been engaged by "Main Events," an evening session weekly newspaper at the City College, to do a series of articles on interplanetary flight, which shall shortly be published. In one of my installments it shall be necessary for me to deal with the subject of "flying saucers." In connection with this, I should desire to know if it would be at all possible for me to obtain some photographs (preferably 8" X 10" glossy) of the supposed saucers or UFO's. I should also be greatly appreciative of a fact sheet(s) in reference to some important sightings and the conclusions reached by the ATIC in connection with those sightings. I wish to impress upon you that this installment (like the others) is intended merely as an attempt to reiterate the "facts" to my readers. However, I will express my opinions concerning this subject after consideration of the evidence. This particular installment will be published in early March.
