This 1954 to 1955 file of U.S. Air Force Directorate of Intelligence correspondence gathers letters and memos about the Unidentified Flying Object Program. In one memo, the Air Force says an object that fell at Sylacauga, Alabama was identified as a meteorite at the Air Technical Intelligence Center. Donald Keyhoe questions the Office of Naval Research about the Navy's analysis of the Tremonton film, and the Navy says data are insufficient and it sees no danger. Most of the replies to the public enclose the Air Force UFO summary.

This file contains correspondence relating to Project Blue Book, a 1952-1969 U.S. Air Force program to investigate the nature and origin of unidentified flying objects (UFO). The correspondence includes letters and memoranda sent between various departments and agencies of the U.S. Government, the Legislative Branch, and private citizens concerning UFO sightings and the research and findings of Project Blue Book.

129-02 94 Ave. Richmond Hill 19 L.I. N.Y. January 4, 1955 U.S. Air Force Project Bluebook (Flying Saucers) Dear Sirs: My name is Kenneth Hansen. I am a student at Richmond Hill High School in the borough of Queens, L.I. N.Y. I am in my third term and have Public Speaking as a major subject. As a part of the final mark we were all asked to give a speech to convince. I decided that myself and two other boys would try to convince the class that Flying Saucers are real and that they are interplanetary. We thought this would be easy. But we soon found out that at least three quarters of the class did not believe us. Two very smart students in this class have already seen a U.F.0. Our speeches must have been good since my mark was 99, the two other boys marks were 97. and 90. We asked those who did not believe us what proof we could give them. They said they wanted tangible proof. We showed them pictures of U.F.O.s that George Adamski took at Palomar Observatory. I would like to know if you have any information that is in leaflet form that I could buy. Also if you have any slide pictures I could by that we be of some use to show to the class.
