This 1954 to 1955 file of U.S. Air Force Directorate of Intelligence correspondence gathers letters and memos about the Unidentified Flying Object Program. In one memo, the Air Force says an object that fell at Sylacauga, Alabama was identified as a meteorite at the Air Technical Intelligence Center. Donald Keyhoe questions the Office of Naval Research about the Navy's analysis of the Tremonton film, and the Navy says data are insufficient and it sees no danger. Most of the replies to the public enclose the Air Force UFO summary.

This file contains correspondence relating to Project Blue Book, a 1952-1969 U.S. Air Force program to investigate the nature and origin of unidentified flying objects (UFO). The correspondence includes letters and memoranda sent between various departments and agencies of the U.S. Government, the Legislative Branch, and private citizens concerning UFO sightings and the research and findings of Project Blue Book.

MEMORANDUM FOR THE OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE LIAISON, OFFICE, SECRETARY OF THE AIR FORCE SUBJECT: Observation of Unidentified Flying Object by Mr. George M. Allender The following is offered as a basis for reply to Congressman Watts: "Your letter to General Samford concerning the observation of an unidentified flying object with the accompanying data compiled by Mr. George M. Allender of Nicholasville, Kentucky, has been received and the information turned over to the appropriate analysts for further evaluation. As you are undoubtedly aware, the Air Force has a major active program in this area and contributions such as those of Mr. Allender on a voluntary basis are extremely beneficial. For your convenience in replying to Mr. Allender, I am attaching a copy of"U.S. Air Force Summary of Events and Information Concerning the Unidentified Flying Object Program" which compiles the latest facts established by the Air Force in its program in this area." 2 Includes: 1.
