This 1954 to 1955 file of U.S. Air Force Directorate of Intelligence correspondence gathers letters and memos about the Unidentified Flying Object Program. In one memo, the Air Force says an object that fell at Sylacauga, Alabama was identified as a meteorite at the Air Technical Intelligence Center. Donald Keyhoe questions the Office of Naval Research about the Navy's analysis of the Tremonton film, and the Navy says data are insufficient and it sees no danger. Most of the replies to the public enclose the Air Force UFO summary.

This file contains correspondence relating to Project Blue Book, a 1952-1969 U.S. Air Force program to investigate the nature and origin of unidentified flying objects (UFO). The correspondence includes letters and memoranda sent between various departments and agencies of the U.S. Government, the Legislative Branch, and private citizens concerning UFO sightings and the research and findings of Project Blue Book.

As you are probably aware, the Air Force has a major active program in this area and is greatful for all reports such as yours on an initiative basis. The information you submitted has been turned over to our analysts for further evaluation. For your convenience I am attaching a copy of the "U. S. Air Force Summary of Events and Information Concerning the Unidentified Flying Object Program" which compiles the latest known facts in our program in this area. Very truly yours, JOSEPH A.
