This 1954 to 1955 file of U.S. Air Force Directorate of Intelligence correspondence gathers letters and memos about the Unidentified Flying Object Program. In one memo, the Air Force says an object that fell at Sylacauga, Alabama was identified as a meteorite at the Air Technical Intelligence Center. Donald Keyhoe questions the Office of Naval Research about the Navy's analysis of the Tremonton film, and the Navy says data are insufficient and it sees no danger. Most of the replies to the public enclose the Air Force UFO summary.

Ejido Nuevo Leon Apdo. Postal #334 Mexicali, B. Cfa., Mexico (no date)

U. S. Air Force Washington, D. C.

I am writing you to testify to the existence of the mysterious flying saucers. I am a Mexican, 37 years old and in full possession of my mental faculties. I am married, and the father of a large family of 6 girls and 3 boys. More than two years ago, I personally saw a flying saucer. It happened one day when I came from Mexicali im my "pick-up", at the point called Cerro Prieto. This craft came in my direction, and I was able to get a full view of its design, since I saw the flying saucer flying at an altitude of about 150 meters, at about 5 miles an hour, for about 150 meters. This happened one morning about 9 A.M. So that your government may be interested, I will describe a small part to you: It was about 12 feet in diameter and the weight about 3 tons, which defies gravity. I am telling you this because when I saw it, it was practically 10 meters from the top of Cerro Prieto, suspended in mid-air. I would appreciate your paying me a reward of $20,000 upon describing its design, which is authentic and genuine. I believe this information is worth much more, because it may be a secret weapon of some enemy nation. Please have some staff officers of your Air Force come to fetch me and please bring a commission of scientists here who can investigate the design and its workings. Also someone versed in atomic science. I hope you will consider my offer.

As to my identity, the Emigration Office at Calexico, California, can inform you that I obtained a local passport [in? no?] 1934. Please excuse my spelling. Sketch with English Captions enclosed
