This U.S. Air Force compilation, released by the U.S. Department of War, holds numbered checklists and survey sheets for flying object incidents 1 through 100. It covers sightings by officers, test pilots and civilians at Muroc Army Air Field on 7 and 8 July 1947, and sightings by Portland, Oregon police on 4 July 1947. It also includes fireballs seen over California, Nevada and Oregon on 30 December 1947, a Houston fireball, and Finnish reports from January 1948.

On Saturday June 11st, shortly before noon, I was in our yard at home when I happened to glance up at a passing plane. I could say this was a two-metre one from one of the army bases, but at about 10,000 or 12,000 feet. On the more glance at the plane a bright shiny flash attracted my attention, coming from approximately two or three thousand feet lower than the plane, but slightly ahead of my line of vision of the plane. My first thought was that the plane had thrown outward bills, but this could not be as they (the flashes or disks) were ahead of the plane. One thing different two, it seems to me they were not traveling as fast as the plane. We realize to, now, that whatever they were, they must have been quite large, being as plain as the nearest one, yet so small. And again, they were traveling much ahead of the plane. At least some of the smaller flashes, if not all were as fast or higher than the plane, but the rest our seemed lower, not much of the flashed and otherwise, so it did seem its only.
