This U.S. Air Force compilation, released by the U.S. Department of War, holds numbered checklists and survey sheets for flying object incidents 1 through 100. It covers sightings by officers, test pilots and civilians at Muroc Army Air Field on 7 and 8 July 1947, and sightings by Portland, Oregon police on 4 July 1947. It also includes fireballs seen over California, Nevada and Oregon on 30 December 1947, a Houston fireball, and Finnish reports from January 1948.

Saw the object from a point at Passoia Lake, north of Nettley at about 0530 hours 13 Oct. The weather was clear with little wind and he watched it for about 30-40 seconds. It was more or less round in shape, orange-yellow in color with a flame or tail or flame and sparks at the rear. It appeared to travel at a rapid speed and not be passing very high. He estimated a plane of equivalent size would be at the altitude of about 5000 feet and it seemed to disappear rather than explode. It was not a flare or rocket, comet or falling star and at no time was there any noise. While stationed on the British Columbia coast he had observed a number of Japanese balloons and while the object was fairly large it was not as large as one of those. COBORATED REPORT: Robert Smith of 368 Bowman Ave., Dumphin, reported the incident to the newspapers. He was with Spores when the sighting occurred.
