This U.S. Department of War release, dated 2026-03-23, is an email exchange between an Information Disclosure Analyst in the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security and an AFOSI program manager. The analyst asked to use an unclassified summary of a SECRET//NOFORN intelligence report. That report describes a civilian who, one night in March 2023 in the Pacific Time Zone, watched a large, blue, featureless triangular object near a national security facility for about eight minutes. AFOSI treated the request as a derivative classification review and approved using the summary at the UNCLASSIFIED level.
