This MoD file, titled UFOs - Persistent Correspondence - Dr David Clarke, holds Dr David Clarke's Freedom of Information requests and emails to the Directorate of Air Staff from 2005 to 2008. Clarke asked for the DI55 report on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena in the UK Air Defence Region and for Rendlesham papers. He also sought records about Nick Pope. Other items include an internal review that released redacted passages on plasmas, the MoD's statement that it had no report of the 2008 South Wales police helicopter sighting, and a 2009 disposal form.

EXCLOSURE 52 NUMBER # Section 40 03 August 2006 09:08 Section 40 RE: UFOs etc. ## Section 40 Dr David Clarke has made several requests to the MOD on UFOs but I haven't seen this one. However, he sometimes submits requests direct to the area of the Department that leads on the subject. I am also sending this to Section 40 of Directorate Air Staff Section 40 Section 40 you let Section 40 from the Clearing House know if you have received this directly and not yet logged on the AIT? He is on Section 40 This seems typical of Dr Clarke - once he has a list of any files, he will follow up. He then looks at the copy addressees on correspondence that is released to him and submits requests asking them to trawl for files - that sort of thing. He is frustrated with MOD because it is known that some info is held in our "asbestosed" files and cannot be looked at so, if he has not asked FCO before, he may have gone to them because he has exhausted his trail with MOD. Please could you search for information held on this topic/theme under these three themes/key-words, relating to any foreign country My period of interest is anytime from 1947 to present. I am aware that records prior to mid-1970s may have been transferred to The National Archives but I would be interested to know if the FCO retain any files in department relating to this subject area. Please note this request is not for copies of material held.
