This is Project Blue Book Special Report No. 14, "Analysis of Reports of Unidentified Aerial Objects," Project No. 10073, dated 5 May 1955. The study reduced about 4,000 sighting reports received by the U.S. Air Force between June 1947 and December 1952 to IBM punched cards and analyzed them statistically, including chi square tests comparing knowns with unknowns. It concludes that the reports very probably do not represent technological developments beyond present scientific knowledge, and it notes that no case produced physical evidence.

Case IX (Serial 0066.00)
A f a r m e r and his two sons, aged 8 and 10, were at his fishing camp
on August 13, 1947. At about 1300 h o u r s , he went to look for the boys,
having sent them to the r i v e r for some tape from his boat. He noticed an
object some 300 feet away, 75 feet above the ground. He saw it against
the background of the canyon wall which was 400 feet high at this point. It
was hedge hopping, following the contour of the ground, was sky blue,
about 20 feet in d i a m e t e r and 10 feet thick, and had pods on the side from
which flames were shooting out. It made a swishing sound. The o b s e r v e r
stated that the t r e e s were highly agitated by the craft a s it passed o v e r .
His two sons a l s o observed the object. No one saw the object for m o r e
than a few seconds.
