This Project Blue Book file on the Socorro, New Mexico sighting of 24 April 1964 compiles an Air Force record card and a large set of press clippings. The clippings cover policeman Lonnie Zamora's report of an egg-shaped object with four landing marks and scorched brush, plus J. Allen Hynek's investigation and follow-up reports from La Madera, Edgewood and elsewhere. An Air Force summary says soil and brush analysis found no foreign material, radiation or propellant, that the case remains open, and that later related sightings were explained or found to be hoaxes.

Dear Dr. Hynek:

Your letter of 30 April, requesting information about individuals referred to in the letter who might have witnessed the sighting of unidentified flying objects on April 24, 1964, was forwarded to my attention.

After considerable searching of the newspaper files during the period in question, I have come up with some helpful information.

The Telegraph-Herald carried a page one story on April 29, 1964 covering the details of the sighting. Two per-sons from Dubuque were listed in the story as having seen the object in question. The story lists:

Paul Kies, 650 Sunset Ridge, Dubuque, Iowa and Larry Kratzer, 1504 Henion, Dubuque, Iowa (now of 751 Kane Street)
