This Project Blue Book file on the Socorro, New Mexico sighting of 24 April 1964 compiles an Air Force record card and a large set of press clippings. The clippings cover policeman Lonnie Zamora's report of an egg-shaped object with four landing marks and scorched brush, plus J. Allen Hynek's investigation and follow-up reports from La Madera, Edgewood and elsewhere. An Air Force summary says soil and brush analysis found no foreign material, radiation or propellant, that the case remains open, and that later related sightings were explained or found to be hoaxes.

# EVALUATION REPORT # Soil Analysis REPORT NR: MAY 64-8 DATE: 19 May 1964 PROJECT NR: G 661-02 TYPE EVALUATION: ## MANUFACTURER SPEC NR. SUBMITTED BY: FTD Sgt D. Moody ITEM SERIAL NR: ## I. PURPOSE Determination of the composition of the soil samples for the purpose of comparison. ## II. FACTUAL DATA 1. The samples were submitted for analysis and assigned Analytical Branch numbers 4-891-4-898. 2. Spectrographic analysis indicated the gross composition to be the same for all samples. The following elements were found in the indicated concentration range: Principal element - Silicon Major elements - Mg, Al, Fe, Na, K and Ca ## III. CONCLUSION There is apparently no significant differences in elemental composition between the different samples. ## IV. RECOMMENDATIONS None, data merely submitted. PREPARED BY: JAMES H.
