This Project Blue Book file, released through The Black Vault, collects US Air Force records from 1950 to 1959 on the movie film Nicholas Mariana shot at Great Falls, Montana on 15 August 1950. It includes the OSI interview report, letters about borrowing and copying the film, and a 1956 Douglas Aircraft analysis. Blue Book's own findings were not consistent: one letter lists the cause as unknown, while later memos conclude the objects were probably two F-94 jets.

OCT 16 1952 Great Falls, Montana Dear Mr. VIA AIR MAIL Great Falls You are probably aware of the fact that the Air Force is still continuing the investigation and analysis of "flying saucers". We are presently attempting to make a comparative analysis of recent sightings against those made in previous years. In this connection, the report of a sighting made by you on 15 August 1950 has aroused our interest. Unfortunately, however, our duplicate copy of the movies which you took of these objects has been inadvertently misplaced. Therefore, we would be most grateful if you would permit us to borrow your original movies for study and duplication. In so doing you would be rendering us a great service. We will have an officer from Great Falls Air Force Base contact you about 22 October and, should you consider our request favorably, he will obtain the movies and give you a receipt for them.
