This Project Blue Book file, released through The Black Vault, collects US Air Force records from 1950 to 1959 on the movie film Nicholas Mariana shot at Great Falls, Montana on 15 August 1950. It includes the OSI interview report, letters about borrowing and copying the film, and a 1956 Douglas Aircraft analysis. Blue Book's own findings were not consistent: one letter lists the cause as unknown, while later memos conclude the objects were probably two F-94 jets.

WITH REGARD TO YOUR COMMENTS ON THE GREAT FALLS INCIDENT, THE Matter Would Have Been Clarified If Your Personnel Had The Opportunity To Review The Folder Which Was In Colonel Watson's Possession At Your Headquarters At That Time. This Incident Occurred At Approximately 1130/22ST/On 5 August 1950. Camera Used To Take Photos. Graphs Was A Reverse 16mm Magazine Loading Type With An F.1.9 Wide Angle Telephoto Lens. Photographs Which Are Of Poor Quality Are Being Forwarded For Your Review. Records At Great Falls Air Force Base Indicates That Two 7-34 Aircraft Were In The Area At That Time. Also, Mr. Reported Seeing Two Jet Aircraft In Flight Immediately After Taking The Photographs. In Fact The Informant Admitted That The Objects Reported And The Jet Aircraft Observed Were Both Travelling In The Same General Direction As Viewed From Where He Was Located. The Most Probable Explanation Is That The Would Be Objects Were Actually Reflection Of The Sun On The Two Aircraft In The Vicinity.
