This 217-page Project Blue Book desk file on the 24 April 1964 Socorro, New Mexico sighting by policeman Lonnie Zamora comes from the Rob Mercer collection. It contains the Blue Book record card, which carries the case as unidentified pending more data, along with Foreign Technology Division messages and resumes and a narrative of the sighting. I gave I..a.Pa.z a copy of Vallee's bool~ and also the Menzel letter which he
took home and by the next mo;nin~ had~pletely the manuscript and
the letter.- I..a.Pa.z is still very concerned about the green fireball incident.
Another one was sighted this last Christmis lillQC it.:.ght. According to I..a.PazJ
the official investigation never satisfactorily cleared up the question of
why these peculiar uranium green fireballs should rAve chosen New Mexico
to fly over and avoid being seen in other statesX ahd why they were so
peculiarly grouped. LaPaz is thorough~ly convi~d that both the green fi~Mlmti
balls and Zamora's sighting were observations ot'tests of advanced vehic~s
peing produced by some project, even more secret than the ~anhattan Project.
I am afraid that LaPaz is unshakable from this r,ypothesiSJ.~ Mis primary
criticism of Vallee's book was that Vallee has ignored the gree~ireballs
whibh, as far as I..a.Pa.z is concerned, represent the r.. ')St important part of
the UFm phenomenon. It is always just a matter of viewpoint!
I..a.Pa.z showed me his excellent meteorite collection and spent much time
in general conversation.
He was engaged for the mvening, and we met again early the next morning
during which time we took the opportunitrf meet~ with the President. of
