This 217-page Project Blue Book desk file on the 24 April 1964 Socorro, New Mexico sighting by policeman Lonnie Zamora comes from the Rob Mercer collection. It contains the Blue Book record card, which carries the case as unidentified pending more data, along with Foreign Technology Division messages and resumes and a narrative of the sighting. It also holds inquiries about lunar modules, helicopters and VTOL craft, soil and radiation findings, and a letter by J. Allen Hynek rejecting Donald Menzel's hoax hypothesis.

H.e arrived at the point where Sgt Za&nora was parked about three minutes after the object had disappeared. Sgt Zamora vas pale and upaet at Vhat he had 'Witnessed. Sgt Chavez \r'BS skeptical of the situation and pro- eeeded to where Zamora had observed the object. Here he found the marks and burns. Smoke appeared to be coming from a bush which was burned but no flame or coals were visible. Sgt Chavez broke a limb from the bush and it vas cold to the touch. The cark.a vere fresh and no other marks were in the area. Diagonals of the four impressions interesect in a perpendicular and the major distance seems to be approximately 13 f't. Sgt Chavez secured the area and eontacted local military author! ties. This resulted in the in- vestigation of the sighting.Rob Mercer
