A 20-year-old Edgewood youth says he fired six
ehots at one of New Mexico's unidentified flying objects. ;
State Policeman Tom my Richardson of Moriarty re- 1
ported he received a telephone call from Don Adams of
: EdgewoQ<l about I :30 a.m. today. .
The report said Adarris told of seeing the object
•about I 00 feet off the ground~ He said it appeared to be
a Auorescent ·or glowing green-colored object about 2S 1

He told the officer he ·drove his car under the ob-
ject and his car stalled. The youth reported he · then. got
out and fired six shots at the object, reloaded and f1red
again, without effe.ct. The officer said he did not. deter-
mine if Adams was using a rifle or a pistol.

lar sightings but most callers
would not identify themselves,
saying they did not want to be
r'idiculoo.
The repQrts came from points
following a •line from nea•r ·ca-
ballo Reservoir south of Truth

area near Espanola.

All the reports are similar in
that they describe_oval_ or eg~- ~
shaped objects With s1ze estl· ,
mates rranging from the size of
a car to about 30 ~eet or longer.

Reports from Monday night
included:
A man who refused to 1den·
tify himself because he said he
would be laughed at, said ~ f
saw a ball of red flame land
near Las Vegas. He made 'no
estimate of the size of the ball.
He said he was going from Lake
McAllister to Laos Vegas when
he saw the object.
New information has been re-
vealed about other sightings.
State Police Sgt. Sam Chavez
said he was told by Socorro
policeman Lonnie Zamora . that
the UFO he saw Friday, the
first of the series of sightings,
had red markings on its silvery
side. Chavez said Zamora told
him the design was an Inverted
V with three bars crossing it,
but that the Air Force had told
him not to discuss the mark- '
ings.

I Orlando Gallegos, 35, of Sanla1 Fe, said he saw a. craft as long
as a telephone pole and about
14 feet in circumfrence near
his father's home north of La
Madera.
State Police Capt. Martin Vi·
gil investigated the La Madera
sighting. He found the ground Istill smouldering 20 hours after
the sighting. He said rocks in I
the center of the IClrea were
split, a bottle was melted and
green brush had been set on Ifire, evidently by intense heat.
Saturday night two unidenti-
fied motorists said an object
similar to the egg-shaped, sil-
ver craft described by Zamora
swooped down out of the sky
toward tlteir car in the Espan-
,ola area.
