This 217-page Project Blue Book desk file on the 24 April 1964 Socorro, New Mexico sighting by policeman Lonnie Zamora comes from the Rob Mercer collection. It contains the Blue Book record card, which carries the case as unidentified pending more data, along with Foreign Technology Division messages and resumes and a narrative of the sighting. It also holds inquiries about lunar modules, helicopters and VTOL craft, soil and radiation findings, and a letter by J. Allen Hynek rejecting Donald Menzel's hoax hypothesis.
4. · Continuing Il:lvestigetive Efforts at Present Include: (1) '!be 'F'l'D Liaison Officer, Major Mitchell at White Sands, has been requested to determine if a vehicle from a classified project at lonlite Sands could have contributed to the s~ting. (2) A letter bas been sent to the FAA requesting any infor- mation relative to :hlenti:fication of a firm using the marking observed by Lonilie Zamora. ( 3) RASA has been Jillleried regarding the status ot the Iwlar Module Programs. As of this date no reply has been received. (4) Letters concerning statUs of the Lunar Hodule progranus have been written to 15 ind:tstrial organizations. (5) Contact with research and developttent personnel associated with VTOL and Lunar Module Programs is being maintained.
