This Project Blue Book case file compilation, hosted by NICAP, covers Rex Heflin's photographs of a UFO taken near Santa Ana, California, on 3 August 1965. It includes an Air Force investigation report by Captain Charles F. Reichmuth, a USMC El Toro G-2 report, an FTD photo analysis dated 14 August 1965, correspondence with Ralph Rankow and Congressman James B. Utt, and newspaper clippings. The analysis concluded the object was about one to three feet in diameter, close to the camera, and could not be the size reported.

Comments: All though the observer was cooperative during interview, and seemingly honestly tried to answer all questions, observer did avoid answering question of delay in reporting, sighting and reproduction of photographs. After looking at photographs and at actual sight of observation, it appears as though there are some discrepancies, as listed below. (1) Size, distance and altitude from observer (2) No other observer, all though object reported hovering over or near heavy traffic on trackway (7 motor vehicles in background) (3) FCC report of no radio interference. (4) Rotating beacon light does not appear on underside of object as it should on a photo. 12. 3 photographs of object were taken of object with a polaroid model 1015 on black and white film, speed 3000/207. Focal length 4 5/0" (from film).
