This Project Blue Book case file, released through The Black Vault, collects records on the 24 July 1948 sighting by two Eastern Airlines pilots of a wingless object about 20 miles southwest of Montgomery, Alabama. It contains teletype replies from military bases reporting no aircraft movements, a 1948 Project Sign special investigation report with an interview of a Robins Air Force Base witness, and a December 1948 intelligence report. It also includes newspaper extracts, a Harvard College Observatory letter and Hynek's Project Grudge evaluation index.

1. The following report received from the Maxwell Flight Service Center, Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama is quoted for your information:

"On 24 July 1948, the aircraft dispatcher on duty at Warner cent squash-shaped object with a flaming exhaust had been sighted at C250E. crew, who stated that the object appeared to be wingless and was headed five feet in length. Mr. estimated the object to be about twenty-

At 0315E Eastern Airlines Houston-to-Atlanta flight reported course to avoid collision.
