* AOIMSG Establishment. Ed Browne, Newsweek, sent separate queries seeking comment from DSD Hicks
and USD(l&S) Moultrie on their 'hopes and aspirations' for the AO IMSG, their personal thoughts on ' UFOs,'
and national security implications. Referred reporter to DSD's memo on the establishment of the AOIMSG,
and provided pre-approved lines, including: "The preliminary assessment report on Unidentified Aerial
Phenomena that the Director of National Intelligence submitted to Congress in June 2021 highlighted the
challenges associated with assessing airborne objects, including UAP, occurring on or near DoD training ranges
and installations. The report also identified the need to make improvements in processes, policies,
technologies, and training to improve our ability to understand UAP. The AOIMSG will focus on proactively
detecting, identifying, and attributing airborne objects - including both known objects and UAP - in Special
Use Airspace, rather than simply focusing on objects that were observed but not identified. One goal is to
help minimize the overall number of airborne objects that are classified as UAP."
