This Office of the Secretary of Defense FOIA release (20-F-1098) holds a December 2019 to January 2020 email exchange between Pentagon spokesperson Sue Gough and Steven Greenstreet of the New York Post about AATIP. Gough stated that the Defense Intelligence Agency ran AATIP and that Luis Elizondo had no assigned responsibilities for it. She said neither AATIP nor AAWSAP was UAP related. Greenstreet pressed her on earlier contradictory statements from spokespeople Chris Sherwood and Dana White.

Thank you for your response. My questions are below highlighted in yellow. 1)So, would you characterize any statement that says "Luis Elizondo was the Director of AATIP" or "Luis Elizondo ran AATIP" as a false statement? 2) In my conversations (phone and email) with Chris Sherwood in May 2019, he told me he was coordinating with OUSDI in order to properly answer my questions regarding AATIP and Mr. Elizondo. He said he was waiting on answers from them (OUSDI) and would then send me an "accurate" response. Some of his exact quotes were "Steven, I'll have to speak with OUSD(I) tomorrow morning when their at work for more clarity." and "This may take some time, we do not have a time frame on when we will receive this information. It's important for us to provide information that is accurate."You are now saying that at least some of the information he provided was not accurate? And given your recent statement: "At the time, Mr. Sherwood was repeating the information that had been provided by a previous spokesperson some two years earlier.", can you comment on Mr. Sherwood's source of the information given to the New York Post in May 2019 saying "AATIP did pursue research and investigation into UAP"? Because you seem to infer he was simply "repeating" or copy/pasting information from a "previous spokesperson some two years earlier" (who I assume is Dana White?) but my conversations with him informs that he was getting his information from OUSDI at the time of our communication in May 2019. 3)You are CCed on a few of the emails between myself and Chris Sherwood in May 2019. Specifically, you were CCed on an email dated May 29, 2019 in which I had asked about Pentagon Spokeswoman Dana White's comments to Politico stating the Luis Elizondo ran AATIP.
